20th Anniversary for Photographic Competition

The 20th anniversary of the Annual Agricultural Photographic Competition run by Galashiels Camera Club in association with the Borders Area NFU attracted an audience of in excess of 120 to the Langlee Community Centre on Wednesday night (12th Nov).

The competition attracts entries from all over the Borders and this year saw a total of more than 500 images presented.

The judges for the night, Eric Bowers and Vivien Cotton both from the Edinburgh Photographic Society gave comments on all of the winning and commended images in the 12 categories.

The competition retains an agricultural feel with its unique “Livestock” category and this year a special prize was presented in this category to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the competition. This was chosen by Mr Charlie Stewart and awarded to Jim Wilson from Duns Camera Club for his print of “Blackfaced Ewe with Lamb”.

This year’s overall Champion was Dick Warren from Morebattle Camera club with “Tricky Mickey”.

In keeping with the agricultural theme, winners are presented with rosettes which are much prized and this year were presented along with the cash prizes by Mrs Stewart.
